Making my way down 4th Avenue
My gaze is grasped, taking in the inside view.
Lights, bottles, pretty people
Celebrating, reveling in the momentary.
I don’t begrudge their indulgence,
I just remind myself that I chose transcendence.
So I make my way past the crowded path of people,
Entering and exiting,
Their temples of pleasure.
And with love and joy,
I make my way home.
